Privacy overview

Onlydict is a language learning product. We process the content you choose to interact with so we can provide lookup, translation, notebook, review, and AI learning features.

What we collect

We collect account identifiers, authentication session data, saved vocabulary, notebooks, review progress, language settings, lookup history when enabled, chat sessions, and support messages you send to us.

We process text you select, type, double-click, Shift-hover, translate, save, or ask Onlydict to analyze. For video learning, we process subtitle text and timing metadata needed to show the learning overlay.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data. We do not use your learning data for behavioral advertising. We do not intentionally collect full page contents to profile you.

We do not automatically save every lookup into your notebook. Saving vocabulary requires a clear user action, unless you enable a feature that explicitly records history.

Contact and control

For privacy questions, data export, correction, or deletion, contact [email protected] from the email address connected to your Onlydict account so we can verify ownership.

Onlydict web app privacy

The web app stores your account and learning data so your notebooks, history, review, and AI learning workflows can sync across sessions.

Account and authentication

Onlydict uses Supabase Auth for email/password login and supported OAuth providers such as Google and Apple. Supabase stores authentication identifiers, session tokens, provider identities, and related metadata needed to keep you signed in.

Your account may include your email address, display name, avatar URL, OAuth provider identifiers, sign-in timestamps, and active sessions.

Learning data

When you use the web app, we may store notebooks, saved words and sentences, language settings, quiz/review state, lookup history, translation history, grammar analysis requests, chat sessions, chat messages, and uploaded file metadata needed to run the feature you requested.

AI and translation features may send your prompt, selected text, or uploaded content to configured AI, translation, dictionary, or search providers. Provider keys and billing controls stay server-side.

Retention

We keep account and learning data while your account remains active or as needed to provide the product, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain backups.

You can request deletion of account data using the Data Deletion tab on this page.

Chrome extension privacy

This tab is the Chrome Web Store privacy notice for the Onlydict extension. It covers extension permissions, selected-text processing, subtitle learning, storage, and extension login behavior.

Data the extension processes

Onlydict processes text you actively select, double-click, Shift-hover, normal-hover when enabled, type into the popup, or interact with in video subtitles to provide dictionary lookup, translation, pronunciation, save-to-notebook, and review features.

For YouTube, Netflix, and similar video learning pages, the extension may read subtitle text, subtitle timing, video page metadata, and the current playback position needed to show the subtitle overlay and lookup words inside captions.

Chrome permissions

Website access is used so the extension can show lookup UI on pages you choose to read and on supported video sites. Context menu access is used for selected text actions. Scripting is used for page-level bridges needed by some subtitle and lookup workflows.

Storage permission is used for extension settings, UI state, selected preferences, short-lived caches, and the extension session after you connect your Onlydict account through the web auth bridge.

Extension controls

You can disable triggers such as selection icon, double-click, Shift-hover, normal hover, and video subtitles in extension settings.

You can disconnect your account by signing out of the extension. You can also remove local extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage in Chrome.

Chrome Web Store summary

Onlydict processes user-selected text and video subtitles only to provide lookup, translation, vocabulary saving, notebook sync, and review features. User learning data is stored after login. Onlydict does not sell personal data or use learning data for behavioral advertising.

User data deletion instructions

Use this tab to request deletion of your Onlydict account data, learning data, and authentication data.

How to request deletion

Email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my Onlydict data" from the email address connected to your Onlydict account.

Tell us whether you want to delete your full Onlydict account or specific account data associated with the account.

What we delete

For a full account deletion request, we delete or anonymize account profile data, OAuth identities, notebooks, saved vocabulary, lookup history, translation history, review progress, chat sessions/messages, and related user-owned learning data, except records we must retain for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, billing, or backup integrity.

For a partial deletion request, we delete or disconnect the specific user-owned account data you request where technically available after ownership verification.

Timeline and verification

We verify ownership before deleting account data. We normally complete verified deletion requests within 30 days, unless a longer period is required for security, legal, or operational reasons.

Local browser data stored by the Chrome extension may remain on your device until you sign out, clear extension storage, or uninstall the extension.

Third-party processors and providers

Onlydict relies on infrastructure and external providers to run authentication, learning sync, translation, dictionary lookup, AI, search, payments, and support.

Core infrastructure

Supabase is used for authentication, database storage, user-owned learning data, Row Level Security, sessions, and account state.

Cloud hosting, Cloudflare tunnel/DNS, and related infrastructure may process request metadata such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, routes, and security logs.

Learning providers

Dictionary, translation, AI, and search features may send the text you ask us to process to configured providers so the requested feature can return a result.

Examples of provider categories include translation APIs, dictionary APIs, AI model providers, search providers, and media sites that provide subtitles or page content you ask the extension to use.

Payments and support

If paid plans are enabled, payment processors may handle billing data, transaction identifiers, subscription state, and payment method metadata. Onlydict does not store raw card numbers.

Support requests you send by email may include your email address, account details you provide, and technical details needed to resolve the request.
